Many of you have questioned Babushka as to why she would leave Miami, her familia, to come up to Crawfordville, a little rural town in Florida's panhandle. Bueno, it's been almost 15 años and BB doesn't regret the decision at all. Es mas, now The Eldest has brought her clan here too.  Perhaps after this post you'll understand mejor part of the charm.

A true example of small town America, one feels the calm of community. And the power.  The Memorial Day service was a perfect show of both.  In the middle of town, in front of our courthouse was held the ceremony. With bowed heads, we all joined an invocation for paz and appreciation for the day, it's meaning, and for our country.

El amor de comunidad, the joining of past history, and the importance they hold to the citizens of the county. We make sure those beliefs are still held high here and are quick to bring them to mind lest one forget.  A proud patrulla who knows, the backbone of greatness is honoring those who came before and try to follow their examples. And we don't forget. Nor do we let them be forgotten.

We teach our children the importance of honor,civic pride, loyalty and good citizenship.

And as adults we make sure to show that honor too.

Vietnam, Korea, various and vast are our veterans.

Apparently this was a newsworthy event. Sadly there aren't enough of such memorials still going on.  Thankfully Babushka lives in a county that still believes in its importancia.

Hoy hablamos de treasure. What do you consider treasure? What would you do to get/maintain it? This and more is in mind as today Disney has another installment of The Pirates of The Caribbean tales in theaters. This movie is Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. 

STORY SYNOPSIS:

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack's only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. BB's Miami Bunch also enjoyed the characters de la pelicula.

The movie was entertaining for the whole family. Son MAC & DIL loved the story, Rinquincaya y PicaPica were captivated by the adventure, y Laughing Buddah got a kick out of being with his familia and having unlimited rositas de maiz. A true Disney film where jumping was from enjoyment not de miedo. Well done Disney!!

If you remember the last time BB wrote about the Feeling Buddies, My Eldest and her boys were living with Babushka, and La Princesa y SIL were coming up a few months later.  Bueno, it didn’t all go as we had hoped, porque la vida, JU SO FONII!!! Lamentablemente my daughter couldn’t quite cope with the pressures of moving, starting over, and suffered a mental lapse and breakdown.  As we wait for her return, my SIL and BB try to fill in, but the hardest part is actually finding time to sit for reading the hows and watching the video so we can put this toolkit to work. He’s in the midst of opening a new business and Babushka’s out of practica de raising little ones, and this being the end of the school year, in a new school, just the daily tasks are plenty for us. However, we do believe in this system, and know, now more than ever, the children need it. Honestamente, we all do. So, we are currently just familiarizing the children with the buddies and asking them to tell us before they go to bed which of the buddies they’re feeling like. If they grab the happy or calm, it’s a kiss, a hug, and a ”Buenas Noches, a dormir con los Angelitos”, pero if it’s any of the others we ask why and hopefully we can turn the sleeping frame of mind into a pleasant one.

This is the last week de escuela in our county, a much anticipated breather of time constraints and school responsibilities. BB will be watching that video closely and repeatedly, and during Grandma Daycare we will be listening to the CD. Babushka truly believes that if we all learn how to better express ourselves, how to self regulate and communicate our thoughts/feelings with others, so much can be accomplished and many problems avoided. Wish this had been around when The Trio were little, but thankfully it’s available now, and BB plans to take full advantage of it.

Mother's Day,Yin, and The Essence of Conferences #WeAllGrow

Hola,Hola,Hola Beautifuls!

May, que Maravilla! The month of flowers and the ultimate female power- motherhood.  If you recall in last month’s article, Babushka promised to share info on conferences attended, and she’ll do just that now. Quee?? These not be related? JU SO FONII!! But of course they are. Abren la mente for a little twofer BB calls the Essence of Conferences. May es de la Mujer.

In Chinese cosmology, the Yin is the feminine force, and combined with the masculine Yang make up all things. The Yang force places value on self, while the Yin force, on a deep level, is what places values on others before self.  Isn’t this the perfect definition of what motherhood is about? In this category BB also places the We All Grow Summit , which just by the title shows its emphasis.

A Latina influencer/blogger focused conference (though of course all are welcomed) held in California in March, this was the #WeAllGrow Summit 2017: Energy of Sisterhood; the third conference of this type and one Babushka had been longing to attend.

 Gracias to the generosity of Consumer Reports who hosted BB’s attendance, not only did I attend, but look forward to the next one! The feeling of amor, ease, y si, Sisterhood, was viable y todas vulnerable with the valor of asking true preguntas y sharing of proprietary points. Con decirte, que for the first time EVER Babushka literally let down her hair. Tal era the Yin in this evento. From the opening party, the signs/reminders of our worth and those of the Herman(a)dad, to being Warrior Princesses for ourselves and our loved ones; it was a touching and empowering three days that will forever be cherished.  Como dije en el ultimo article, we must invest in ourselves, and the #WeAllGrow summit on all levels was a lifelong memoria that will always bring BB felicidad and fuerza.

When BB was Bb and looking for "vintage and cool" clothing during her highschool/college years, the first place she'd go to was Goodwill stores. Not only were the prices reasonable back then, but the selection was always abundant. When Babushka became a single madre, she once again began visiting her local Goodwills and could always find something you needed.  Now come to find out they also help gente find much needed employment tambien!

May is for Mother's Day & Ms.Olivia - A BB BounceBack

This post was originalmente shared in 2012. Seems increible to BB that it's been 5 years already since I met Ms. Olivia, and also incredible that seeing her foto and recalling her aura still makes me smile and gives me paz.  Totally perfeccion that this be shared in the month we celebrate Mother's Day.  She just exuded motherly love, patience, the vibe of knowing and enjoying each moment.  Her "Life is so cool, and I'm cool with it."  attitude just radiated and encompassed. Babushka forget Ms. Olivia?  JU SO FONII!!!

4/2012   BB's an Original, but Ms Olivia is the Real Thing.
Saw her at the bus terminal and knew right away BB was seeing her future self.  Older but oh so stylish, she meshed the retro past with the boldness of today and gave it a flair of her own.  She was marvelous.

Traveling with her two daughters and her granddaughter, you could see she had loved and lived and continued to do both with grace and a natural air.  Babushka was all excited with plans and strategy for the Hispanicize 2012 conference and was in her own little world- and then she saw Ms. Olivia who reminded me what BB's real world should be.

Here was a woman who had found her way a long time ago, was comfortable in her skin, whose very essence exuded "this is my style, this is my life, this is me- and I like me".  Her beauty - inner and outer brought tears BB's eyes.  Have you ever sensed the presence of true beauty?  The knowledge of self worth and the radiance of self acceptance- THIS is true beauty  and Ms Olivia embodied it.

Babushka had to take a picture of her, to remind oneself of what is possible, to remember what BB aspires to be,  and so shyly approached Babushka's new idol to ask her permission.  Ok si, I hear you- "BB, You- Shy?!?  JU SO FONII!!!"  And you'd be right 99% of the time to doubt, but this was the 1% of our human race who had actually attained self love and Babushka was in awe and humbled. 

She graciously heard Babushka's petition, smiled, and told me she'd discuss it with her daughter.  Her daughter of course wanted to be assured of one's sincerity and asked why BB wanted to photograph her mother.  It was explained how Babushka wanted to capture her mother's style and love of self.   Apparently she believed BB because she came looking for me when we had a stop over, and BB didn't give her a chance to change her mind.

Ms. Olivia was in pure joy when she posed for the camera as was Babushka that she had allowed me the honor. BB believes her daughter had known her mother was exceptional as she thanked me profoundly for noticing.  But how can one not notice?  It would be like not noticing the Lady Moon as she shines and shimmers, not noticing her beauty naturally escaping and filling our nights. No, BB's the one who is thankful to Ms. Olivia for her example and hope this does her justice as she inspires us all to embrace our lives and ourselves.
