Noviembre- A Month for Gratitude and Hope. Conexion November 2022

BB shares her love of fall, the beauty and strength of the season.

Noviembre, it’s officially Fall. Wow and Woah. No se about y’all, pero once the year got its momentum going, there was no stopping it. How about you Beautifuls? Did you get your momentum going? Did you hit your stride, or just went along on the ride?  Creo que we all did a little of both, verdad? We were “in the flow” and at times just “going slow”, pero al final, we’re here, getting ready for another rapidly approaching New Year.

In another month the locura of Crisma, then before you know it we’re singing Auld Lang Syne. Let’s take a moment to reflect, remember and rejoice this year. Give thanks for all that has happened, for it has brought moments of happiness or hardiness, either way, we’re still here. Surely that means we have a reason to be, and for that, feel grateful and blessed.

We are the trees, some samplings, some giant oaks, but we all lose leaves in life. And like nature, we dig down into the ground, roots going deeper. At times we go dormant to strengthen, to rest, to recollect our energies- and our dreams. Si, otro año se termina, this year is almost finished, but that doesn’t mean we are.  Find encouragement in being. Be proud of what you’ve lived and learned this year, for with that, you have the chance to bloom again.

2017 Auld Lang Syne- Feliz New Year!!

They say that musica is the universal language, and Babushka definitivamente agrees with that. So, time to share the history of one of the most beloved and shared songs of all time- Auld Lang Syne. For the full rendition go to Scotland.org for a lovely share.

"In 1788 Robert Burns sent the poem ‘Auld Lang Syne’ to the Scots Musical Museum, indicating that it was an ancient song but that he’d been the first to record it on paper. The phrase ‘auld lang syne’ roughly translates as ‘for old times’ sake’, and the song is all about preserving old friendships and looking back over the events of the year.

It is sung all over the world, evoking a sense of belonging and fellowship, tinged with nostalgia.

It has long been a much-loved Scottish tradition to sing the song just before midnight. Everyone stands in a circle holding hands, then at the beginning of the final verse (‘And there’s a hand my trusty friend…’) they cross their arms across their bodies so that their left hand is holding the hand of the person on their right, and their right hand holds that of the person on their left. When the song ends, everyone rushes to the middle, still holding hands, and probably giggling.
