A Day Without Feibu y Tweety

Babushka didn't know what to do with herself on Monday. Bueno, let's rephrase that and give y'all a little background info here.  El Dr.'s 6th bday party was on Saturday, so of course La Tata and I were going, however on Friday when my eldest picked us up I hadn't quite finished with Tweety.  Thankfully during Hispanicize I had learned about HootSuite via the preciosa Paula Bendfelt-Diaz and had scheduled most of the weekend tweets, pero I still had a few left so I took my laptop.  And then on Sunday- I forgot my laptop. ::SIGH:: Ok, si, I know.

Now how many of you have had children say "I'm bored!" and you counter with "Well, you can always clean your room." or "You can ____________ (fill the blank w/some other chore) and that will keep you busy."  Yeap, that Karma sure has a wicked sense of humor doesn't she?


 So by 11 a.m. BB had:

Laundry

This is how it's done in Little Havana

DONE


By 1:00 p.m.

 
Crocheting

Cuban Pañales aka Burp Cloths


DONE


By  2:00 p.m.
(just in time for Siesta)


Dinner

Thank Goodness for Rice Cookers!
Arroz Amarillo w/vegetales w/hotdogs cut up
surrounding a mound of fufu w/fried eggs in the middle

HEARTY CUBAN COMIDA

DONE 



Once I awoke after my 3.5 hour nap- Quuueeeee???
I was physically exhausted.  BB usually staggers her chores...over days. 
Or longer.



Babushka did notice one thing though. I was more relaxed and felt more, dare I say it - fullfilled?  I had, if only for the day, become an oldtime Cuban homemaker with the crocheting and everything! Oh my, the visions of life in the campo, the lessons of yore, the simpler pleasures... maybe I should try going without mi computadora for one day a week? What the hey, BB's all about living w/gusto- maybe the entire weekends?

When my daughter swung by after work with my laptop,
I didn't know which to kiss first- her or the computer.

Time for a smartphone.

    I want a smartphone too!!! It would be easier to stay in the loop without having to have the darn laptop on right? I do have a tablet but the kids are usually hogging it up, so I would love my own smartphone. You had a great day BTW!

      We're also supposed to go outside and exercise at least once a week. Soooooooo NOT Babushka!!

      Made a pact w/myself long ago. If it hurts, is unpleasant, or bothers.... BB doesn't do it. And life has been so pleasant since then! ; )

      ::smh:: I can't believe it's outside either!!

      So you recommend an iPhone?? Hmmm... I don't know... maybe it's from years of buying second hand cars, but if I can't easily change the battery or get parts,it's pretty suspect to me! ; )

      After this episode I realize Feibu y Tweety are like café- it's adrenaline,it's an excuse to socialize and it's oh so addictive!!! Soooo BB has puro espresso from Monday - Saturday, and on Sundays... un cafecito con leche??

    Mujer- you and BB are so there!! After this episode I can honestly say rest for BB, Tweety/Feibu rest, on Sunday, si. And for Babushka a "rest" is anything after 2 hours.

      Thank you Letty! I love crocheting, but only do it when I had babies/grandbabies...so thankfully it's been awhile. ; )

      Being offline- the thought now gives me almost as much ::shudder:: as the memory of ::shudder:: puberty. Almost.

    I totally understand how you feel BB. I was at a conference in Orlando from Friday to Sunday and refused to pay the $14 per day to get Wifi so decided to use my smartphone but it had other plans and went on strike. So I spent 3 days without internet. I started off with an anxiety attack and ended the weekend feeling liberated. I am also following in Ezzy's steps and declaring an internet free day per week and even trying to turn off the computer by 6pm, that is not going so well ... maybe 9pm. lol! Ese FB y twitter si sue son adictivos!! xoxoxo

    Paula- Oh my,You truly were baptized by fire! Paying for Wifi, dead phone... you're definitely a stronger woman than Babushka. I would have started yelling 'JU SO FONII!!!' and swinging the fan, a lo ::BOPASO:: con ESO! Stop laughing- you know I would have. ; )
