Babushka's Bus Brigade- @RedCoachUsa and @GreyhoundBus - The Comparison #Review

HolaHolaHola My Beautifuls!!!

This summer BB was blessed once again to have a mini vacation with my eldest grandson, El. Dr.  As y'all know, Babushka prefers the bus for Florida innerstate travel, and have been traveling this way for years. In BB's opinion nothing beats having someone else drive for you who knows the way and lets you just eat,sleep and be on the internet the whole trip.  Also, you can't beat the price- as far as gas goes, the tickets are waaayy less than what you'd pay if you were driving.  So, Babushka travel any other way? JU SO FONII!!! Now what didn't occur to me were the differences between bus services.  Wow and Woah.  An example? It's like the difference between a pedicure, and a spa pedicure. Like la diferencia entre Walmart and Target. Ahora si, BB sees you nodding.

Now Y'all know Babushka loves the details- miren pa' esto, just take a look...

El Dr., remembering the last bus terminal we were in, couldn't hold back his joy.
The sitting lounge, the welcoming door, and the vending machine with acceptable prices.

You KNOW BB was open mouthed- in every meaning of that phrase.

Now Greyhound has a 50lb underbus allowance free to each passenger,
which I always thought was good.

What does RedCoach offer its passengers?

2- 50 lbs of luggage under the bus!!!

If you're a light packer, you might prefer the 1 carryon AND 1 purse Greyhound rule whereas RedCoach has the 1 carryon/1purse regulation.  For Babushka that's a hard one, since I must have my laptop, and my Popa bag w/snacks is almost a carryon all by itself. Since El Dr. was going that was ok this time.  Also ok this time was the amplitud, the spaciousness of the bus. 

Actually, it was more than ok!  Instead of the 51 passenger bus Babushka usually traveled on, the RedCoach accomodates 27.  And if you notice, one side has single seats and the other has two; that way those who travel alone can have their space and those traveling together can sit together without fear of separation.  BIG difference.  As a matter of fact, they even have assigned seats for the different types of fares. Si, they totally have different categories- First, Business, Economy. No se, but maybe because I was comparing, but BB didn't see a bad seat in the whole bus.  Es mas, note the shakiness of the picture, Babushka was in shock. Not only was the bus spacious, but the legroom...

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Another unbelievable thing?  When BB last year, first told El Dr. we were going by bus he asked if they had snacks and a movie.  Of course we all laughed, but "out of the mouth of babes", who's laughing now??  RedCoach has on board movies!  Here is a short video showing how we enjoyed our ride - first class luxury for Babushka and Grandson.

Ok si, Greyhound has more scheduled trips, but in the cities RedCoach has, they also have shuttles. Buenisimo right? Imaginate, the  business meetings, hotels, the marinas,the restaurants,the shopping! Here's the link for the Miami shuttle so you can take a looksie.

 And for those parents sending their children off to a Florida University, you can't beat the comodidad and greater sense of security on RedCoach.  But BB will write for my college parents- as well as those parents who want to take a hassle free ride to Orlando, on another post. Just let it be known, that for Florida bus travel- point for point, and if I had my druthers, it would be RedCoach all the way.It may be a little bit more, but like the aforementioned spa treatment, that extra pampering is definitely worth it.

 No wonder there was no hesitation from RedCoach when Babushka contacted them through Tweety.

Social Good for a Good School Year #Ebates #GivingBackPack

It's Back to School Time, and though Babushka's Trio doesn't need me to get them their school supplies (bueno, maybe My Little One with college stuff, but that's different), BB still remembers how crazy the stores would get, the supplies all over the place, and the frustration of not getting everything on the list.  Lucky for y'all you can buy everything you need online, in the comfort of your home AND get money back too!! Si, with Ebates that's exactly how you use it. In comfort with dinero back.  

Unfortunately Babushka was behind the times, deadline, and running Cubantime so it was done the old fashioned way.  Debajo de lluvia, under rains, BB drove without AC to buy the school supplies. This campaign objective is to provide backpacks filled with school supplies for kids in need. Isn't that a wonderful thing? It's a special project, therefore a special backpack was needed. If BB was going to be giving of herself, the full essence must be given. Not wanting to get "any old backpack" Babushka took advantage of Bealls Outlet "Over 50 Club Members Monday", where everything is 15% off. Had to be conscious of the $25 allowance given by Ebates, and that's a great place to start.  I found el backpack y con el descuento it was $9.08.  

PERFECCION!!!

You can't get more "Bohemian Babushka living in rural Crawfordville" than this!

Totally feliz I went to Walmart to get the local school supplies list and the rest of the needed supplies.  

If you notice, there's no mention of a backpack, but BB doesn't care.

Exceeded the $25 allowance by $5, but BB doesn't care.

Helped a child start the school year off right.

BECAUSE WE CARE!!!

May the school year be one of joy and much learning,

My Dear Sweetie had a scare, pero ahora he's eating healthier.

Winn Dixie and Kefir Lifeway Products are part of that new mindset.

During one of my June trips to Miami Babushka got one of those calls we all dread. "Honey, I'm in the emergency room at the hospital." For one of the few times en mi vida, the world stood still and BB felt totally helpless. Sweetie's job does a monthly well check on its' employees and apparently his blood pressure was through the roof, and even though it's an assisted living facility, they have medical supplies and such, but they couldn't lower it sufficiently. A trip to the emergency room was ordered, and so was a new way of living.

Sweetie's slim but that's a deceiving way to measure wellness, because that man can eat! Apparently being slim is a family trait- but so is high blood pressure. His mother would always remind him to check his pressure (proof again that moms are always right) and to control his salt intake. My dearest had the habit of putting salt on his food without even trying it and practically lived on soda. After that emergency room visit, he's turned his lifestyle around. He's running again, doing exercise, and most importantly gotten rid of his bad eating habits and incorporated good new ones. He was more excited than BB when Collective Bias asked me to write this post and was looking forward to learning more about Kefir Lifeway Products.

So off we went to our local Winn Dixie Store to check them out.

Y'all know BB doesn't do complicated, and she also doesn't do heat, so when there was a chance given for quick, easy meals -especialmente during summer, that's a twofer Babushka HAS to dance to!  Y bailando under the stars, because they all aligned when #CollectiveBias asked for quick meal recipes using the excelente trio of Kool-Aid Jammers, Kraft American Singles, and Kraft Easy Mac Cups.  Just before I left for Miami, Sweetie had asked about joining Sam's Club, and now I was about to be a member; that was one star. Next, El Dr. was coming to spend another summer with us. Two Stars. And that BB was to buy the same items I used to get for The Trio, my "meals to go". Three Stars.

Babushka was one happy dancer when I went to my Tallahassee Sam's Club and became a member!

There's so much to see and taste at Sam's Club that we made a family outing of it!

 Sweetie got into the swing and happy when he saw the extra saving with the Sam’s Club Instant Savings Booklet.

2.READ INSTRUCTIONS!!!

3. Gather ingredients. Veggies & Meat

4. Only need to put in one cucharada of each.

How's that for balanced, nutritious & economical!!

5. COOK.

6. The other ingredients were pretty universal, but this is the Cuban Secret Sauce. 

Adobo. We put it on everything.

7. ♪Shake it up Baby!♪  Mix it well.

8. ENJOY!!!

Babushka asked El Dr. what he thought of Sam's Club, and most importantly what did he think of the food we bought there?  By his answer, you know there's got to be something to genetics...
