#TBT El Dr. - My Gentle Soul is now 6.

BB's eldest grandson turns 14 this coming Saturday. This is a reprint from many years past. No longer a little boy, he's a teenager in a world of challenges, but also of many champions.  Babushka hopes he continues to be a champion for those smaller than himself and in that, become a man this mundo needs.Happiest of Cumples to El Dr. querido, with all the love and hopes this Abuela Aventurera has. 

El Dr.- 6 years old

El Dr., my eldest grandson, turned six on June 6th.  Yes, he was born 6/6/6.  I know what you're thinking, but in reality he's the gentlest, shyest child.  Queee? JU SO FONII!!! Yes he's related to BB.  Ok si, definitely takes after his dad's side of the family.

Maybe it's because he was born with so many medical problems, maybe it was because he was overwhelmed by the family he was brought into, or maybe it was always to be his way, but this child has a soul of gentility.  He prefers the quiet to chaos and being with La Tata above all things.  Have you ever seen a 6 year old play all day with a 90 year old and be thoroughly in heaven doing so?  A truly special child. Not that he doesn't like children his age or parties mind you- especially when they're for him.

And yes, he can be the typical child when asked to 

"Smile for the camera just one more time."

But his true essence, his utmost joy (besides being with La Tata) are babies.

You can see it in his eyes, hasta el alma brilla- even his soul starts to shine. 

::sigh::

 Allright, maybe he's more pediatrician than plastic surgeon material.

But whatever the material, it's good, it's gentle, 

and it's growing up way too fast.

#TBT Watch out world- Rinquincaya turned 4! May 2012

This was originally posted in 2012.  

Now a preteen about to hit PUBERTY ::shudder:: . 

Let us go back to easier times...

My youngest grandson, Rinquincaya celebrated his 4th birthday on Sunday.  Now before you start with the "awwwwsss" please remember who we're talking about.  Here's a quick reminder in case you've forgotten. 

Babushka had gotten him  the party fixins for a Disney's Cars theme but when they went to the store for the final things he saw this.

Felizmente there's Feibu and all the invites were sent electronically, because really-

who doesn't do Feibu?

So now the dash began.  Four days before the party, last minute preps.  Que Que??  Why wasn't this planned/done months before?  JU SO FONII!!!  Where's the fun in that? 

MM and DIL ran around for decorations, cake, drinks, beach toys-because no self respecting pirate can appear sans shovels for treasure digging, and all the other craziness parties bring.  All this after 7 pm when my son arrived from work because his truck had decided to quit and they were now a one car familia.  Oh si, fun.

On the day of the party the forcast was 30% chance of rain, which was a heck of a lot better than the 60% forecast we had during the week.  Optimistic and sleepy, MM, La Tata and BB  packed up the car and headed out the door to be the first ones at the beach to get good tables (read that tables under shade).  It was 9 a.m.- on a Sunday.  Oh si, fun.

Meanwhile DIL's brother picked her and the boys up and helped with some last second shopping and her sister picked up the pizza.  Mil Gracias guys, there's no way it could have been done without your help.

And now the party begins-

Note about the above. 

As you can see, this was a Cuban style piñata with strings to pull, however,

 being the multi cultural mecca Miami, and being my son's son, the bat was a must.

Wouldn't be a decent party without it.

Matter of fact, when BB asked Rinquincaya if he had enjoyed himself he said

"It was the bestest party EVER."

and then he said something that you have to realize, please keep in mind,

 his age, his environment, but most importantly his genes. 

 Mi adorado Rinquincaya said (I'm so proud), he said,

 I AARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH  HAPPY.

And I aarrrrrrrggghhh  too.

It's 2020 and he's 12!  
That laser focused attitude and attention has served him well. Now an honor student and champion cheerleader Rinquincaya is following his dreams and passion.

Quee?? JU SO FONII !!! Of course these aren't all the bellezas she shared with us. It was a 2 hour charla My Beautifuls! Besides, y'all should make every effort to see and hear her in person yourselves. As it was, BB could only attend the first day, and I must repeat Part 1 of this series by thanking the nice people of #Orgullosa for this opportunity. HolaHolaHola My Beautifuls!!!

If you recall, a little while back BB wrote about the baby shower for Cristyls Corazon ,bueno, Grandbaby #5 has arrived!!!  On October 1, 2014 Babushka's family was blessed once again with another child. Dr. J weighed 8 lbs 7 ozs and was 21 inches long.  BELLO!!!

If you've been following BB on Tweety, Feibu & Instagram you've seen many a pic and video. 

Ahora, does that mean there won't be any more??

HolaHolaHola My Beautifuls!!

Y'all know BB doesn't do complicated, and she also doesn't do heat, so when there was a chance given for quick, easy meals -especialmente during summer, that's a twofer Babushka HAS to dance to!  Y bailando under the stars, because they all aligned when #CollectiveBias asked for quick meal recipes using the excelente trio of Kool-Aid Jammers, Kraft American Singles, and Kraft Easy Mac Cups.  Just before I left for Miami, Sweetie had asked about joining Sam's Club, and now I was about to be a member; that was one star. Next, El Dr. was coming to spend another summer with us. Two Stars. And that BB was to buy the same items I used to get for The Trio, my "meals to go". Three Stars.

Babushka was one happy dancer when I went to my Tallahassee Sam's Club and became a member!

There's so much to see and taste at Sam's Club that we made a family outing of it!

 Sweetie got into the swing and happy when he saw the extra saving with the Sam’s Club Instant Savings Booklet.

Arriving home, it was time for Babushka to make El Dr. the same meal I made for his mom, Babushka's Bebe.

1. Pick out your meal.  El Dr. had no problem with that one!

2.READ INSTRUCTIONS!!!

3. Gather ingredients. Veggies & Meat

4. Only need to put in one cucharada of each.

How's that for balanced, nutritious & economical!!

5. COOK.

6. The other ingredients were pretty universal, but this is the Cuban Secret Sauce. 

Adobo. We put it on everything.

7. ♪Shake it up Baby!♪  Mix it well.

8. ENJOY!!!

Babushka asked El Dr. what he thought of Sam's Club, and most importantly what did he think of the food we bought there?  By his answer, you know there's got to be something to genetics...

As you well know, Babushka does not do heat.  Not too convenient considering I live in Florida, pero I do have ways to combat that heat aversion.  Queee?? JU SO FONII!!!  Si, I do leave the house once in a while- if it's worth it, and making a grandbaby smile is sooooo worth it. But it does have to be BB style. 

I needed a place that was cool in every sense of the word- and I found it in ANTARCTICA.

Cool huh?? 

Ok si, it's in Orlando and not real ice, but this was the week of escaping the real and facing fears. 

 El Dr. was up to the challenge- as a matter of fact, it was his idea!

He decided to meet his fear of roller coasters, heights, and fast rides. 

Ejemplo: In the Empire of the Penguin ride you could choose a mild or "wild" ride. 

He chose the "wild".

Stock pictures yes, but very true to experience.

Here's El Dr. in one of the entrances to Antarctica. 

Luckily for us the day was overcast, not many people were there, so we saw almost everything.  Suggestion, bring comfortable shoes and time to see it all.  As I said, it was late and had been raining so many had left- otherwise, I'd suggest at least 2 days to really appreciate all that's available. Continuing.

El Dr. bravely wanted to overcome his fears, but he started off slowly- at  Shamu's Happy Harbor.

 My grandsons brave, not bobo.

Unfortunately the same can not be said of BB-
those little cups are not made for Cuban Cabooses.

Ok si, another stock picture, pero in my own defense, I didn't take a pic because I was shocked that he truly wanted to ride this, but ride we did.
He taught Babushka a lot that day, but he learned a couple of things too.

Not only did he learn a lot about himself and the creatures of the sea,
but he learned about his Babushka.

Thankfully, he says she's kept her Cool.
