Thankfully The Grands have more options of entertainment, pero there is no topping the language of libros. Wakulla Weekend of #MLK & Community - I Have A Dream Celebration- Inciting Insight

HolaHolaHola Beautifuls!

January 16, the great MLK Jr. was celebrated and remembered across our nation. Martin Luther King Jr was celebrated in BB's home town Crawfordville, Wakulla County too, but here we believe in doing it with style, relevance, and heart.  No son tan over the top or loud as Babushka's Miami, but the passion is just as strong. One day is not enough, so the celebraciones started Friday con musica and culminated in community reminiscing, union, and hope for the futuro.

The theme this year was "Inciting Insight" and the speakers eloquently shared their stories.

The sharing of  Andrea Carter and her senior year of highschool, when desgregation became a reality, was a sudden realization of truth.  It wasn't a story just to be read in history books, it happened, to real people;  it made a difference, they made a difference. Things weren't perfect by any means, but a start had been made. Now it was up to nosotros to continue the charla and the change.

When BB says Wakulla has style she means it has an essence, and here the essence is our community, our history.  Generations of families have been born and raised here and we're proud of that. There is a feeling of community which one can sense and see.  It's the bond that makes it home.

A Father's Legacy and Dr. Martin King Jr's Message . The Poder of Voting.

HolaHolaHola Beautifuls.

He was there to support his daughter. Anyone watching could see his pride and how he listened to her fully, believing in her, her words, and her beliefs. That was Robert Williams. A caring father who knew his family and loved them wholeheartedly.  Felizmente Sr. Williams saw ALL of us on this tierra as his familia, and instilled that to his children.

Babushka had the Blessing to have met Mr. Williams at a networking event sponsored by his daughter Dianne Williams-Cox and Conexion. Semi political, friend making, business opportunity, this was a small gathering to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Though small, the group of individuals, varied in their backgrounds and agendas, all were striving to make Tallahassee a city that would do MLK proud. We were all feliz to see others of like mind, y aunque pocos we were passionate y poderoso.  And in this frame of mind Mr Williams approached BB directly.

"Please make sure to write the truth about Dr. Luther King Jr's legacy.  It didn't start out as a peacemaking message. He knew the power of The Vote and wanted his people to use it.  The peaceful demonstrations all came from this first vision. We can't let that truth and vision get lost. There is power in voting, THAT is how our voices will be heard, how we'll make a difference."

BB later saw Mr. Williams and Dianne in many community events and he always greeted me warmly. Truth be known, Babushka was always feliz to see him, but embarrassed that she still hadn't shared his mensaje. It can wait no longer. Robert Williams is watching these elections from a higher plane, hoping his fellow Americans succeed in taking the higher road. The Presidential Election Day is here.

Babushka has shared your message.   BB sees the two of you now, you and MLK, sipping your cafecito,  feliz, watching how We United, Voted for Amor, and once again showed the true nature of our beloved United States of America. And the Flow continues: Further with Ford- 2013 Trend Conference

My thanks to the Ford Motor Company for providing my flight,lodging and meals during this event. There was no request to write about my experience, nor was BB given monetary compensation. The post is Babushka's thoughts of the adventure.

As I mentioned in my last post, apparently the S Sisters wanted me to see the Universal Flow we're all part of, how each of us can make a difference, because they kept sending me to events that emphasized just that. Next, BB was sent to Detroit to go "Further with Ford". Queeee?? JU SO FONII!!!  Ok si, when we think of Ford we think cars and not anything else, but they're so much more. It has been said that with great power comes great responsibility and Babushka was pleasantly surprised by what was talked about during the conference. To give you an idea of what the mindset was behind the event, before it even started Ford asked its' attendees to complete a Myers-Briggs personality test to see what our preferences would be. Oh si My Beautifuls, this was not to be a regular car show event.

 pero let's follow the steps of my prior Ford trip and begin with the trip itself.

Once we checked in we were given our badges, our room keys, and told to board the bus for dinner at the Henry Ford Museum.  Now, you know BB loves an adventure, but seriously, a museum? Ford Museum?? Carros and all that??  Y'all can imagine the jetlag, but being Cubana the thought of dinner won out. In all honesty, I'm glad my growling tripas led me, because again my assumption was all wrong; the museum wasn't all about Ford and their cars.

So much to see, and they promised we could explore later, but first, our welcome.

Our first speaker of the conference, who in Babushka's opinion set a tone that was hard to surpass. Obviously an educated man, but his speech was easy to follow- even when he touched on some of the technical aspects Ford is working on, and he genuinely seemed impressed and content to be working for and heading the Ford team.  Management who is down to earth and actually enjoys his job and the promise of all it entails. Who'd of thunk it? But then again, not much about "Further with Ford" matched the preconceptions of esta vieja.  BB for one found him fascinating and was sorry we didn't see him again during the rest of the conference.

Now what we did see lots of during the rest of the conference-

A celebration of 150 years and excelente comida, with details Ford is known for.

After the wonderful meal, we were invited to continue visiting the museum. 

In truth, a full day is needed to just visit this part of the complex, but from my mini visita some of BB's Favs- 

Hot wax souvenir maker,old style McDonald's, working diner,Baby Boomers, and a fellow re-enactor portraying Henry Ford.

Bueno, si, there were cars and motorized vehicles,

but not your average everyday variety.

Now My Beautifuls, after that last exhibit BB couldn't imagine anything could top it, so con barriga llena y corazon contenta- my belly and heart full, it was time to return to the hotel.  Day 2 had a full schedule y escapades of enlightenment for Babushka- and some thrills and chills too.
