Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving, it was a feast between strangers to celebrate and give thanks for all their blessings and for having survived the year.  BB will now put on her feather and her giant shoe buckles- multi cultural creature that I am, and share her bounty and thanks with you My Beautifuls.  Y'all have allowed me to speak my peace and piece of mind, and because of that my life has been richer.

I've   traveled and had new experiences

Stowed Away By Pirates in St. Augustine

Remember the old movies where the princess stowed away and was harbored by pirates? Bueno, it doesn't just happen in the movies. Yes, this princess (Cuban American Princess-CAP) was stowed away by pirates during her stay in St. Augustine. AAaaarrgh you ready for the tale?  Sorry, couldn't resist.

It happened long ago, during the mythical days of the American Latino Heritage Fund Roadtrip.  The Princess had been traveling for hours with her trusty stead, and  it was time to rest. Night had fallen and she was weary from her travels, but where to stay?  According to her map, the next stop on their journey was the fabled St. Augustine, land of history and riches.  The Princess had visited this place during her childhood but that was too many moons ago and of course it had changed. The streets were dark and quiet- except for laughter.  A strange sound at this hour of the night, however she followed and found herself here.

The Pirate Haus Inn

Pirates?
She was too exhausted to question and ventured in.

Being no pushover, the Princess, although dizzy from cansancio and looking up those stairs, was determined to find lodging and continued upward.  She followed the laughter and found

Si, she had found a place among friends, for although she was a Princess, the pirates could see the spirit of adventure within her and welcomed her to their haus.  Together they would create many tales and memories, make their own mark on history, pero era tarde, it was late.  Mañana she could explore her surroundings, but for now they showed the Princess  to her quarters.-  it was time to rest.

So, did y'all like the story of the Stowaway Princess?  Queee? JU SO FONII!!!  Of course it's based on true events-  Here's the video showing her quarters...

Si, a very real and  very fun place to stay when you're in St. Augustine.  Babushka spent two enjoyable nights there and would have continued enjoying the Captain's wonderful pancakes.

For this alone it's worth the trip.

P.S.  Meet the Captain on BB's YouTube Channel, and of course more pics on Feibu. And while you're there, visit  The Pirate Haus   and St. Augustine

P.P.S.  Mil Gracias to the maravillosa Ms. Barbara of the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau for arranging this stay for BB.

P.P.P.S.  The opinions/tale expressed on this post are my own.  The compensated accomodations did not sway the review of  my stowaway.

50 & Hitting it Out of the Park!!

Actually, it was parks- plural.

During Hispanicize 2012, Disney Parks, one of the major sponsors, gifted all attendees with two, free, one day park hopper tickets, and BB gifted it to herself for my 50th bday.  It had been over 10 years since my last visit to Epcot, and even longer for the other parks so I was ready to revisit- as an adult. Or so I thought.

First of all Sweetie and I had come home late from Medieval Times the night before. It was almost 1 am before we went to sleep so we knew it wasn't going to be an-early-morning-rush-to-be-the-first-ones-there sort of park visit. We were going to have a good breakfast, buy some more batteries for my camera, and then head to DisneyWorld.  And that's what we did.  We were adults; with no agenda, no hurry, we arrived at noon.  Then we saw this.

Olvidalo.  Still act like adults?  JU SO FONII!!!  Bet you've never seen babyboomers turn into babies so quick in your life!  Imaginate, BB was so psyched I even had to take a shot from the rear view mirror.

Oh yes I did- and that was just the booth to pay for parking.

The plan was to start off at Disney Hollywood Studios because it had fewer things we wanted to see.  Que queeee???  Por fa My Beautifuls, we spent 4 hours there!

Transportation Ferry & Tower of  Terror

We hadn't even entered the park yet and I had taken over 50 pics.
At this point Sweetie was beginning to regret his choice of birthday present to me,
but eventually we did enter Disney Hollywood Studios.

Proof- Sweetie & BB in Disney Studios

Please note how fresh and lively we are, and remember,
this was our first stop.

We rode rides- in the Grumman's Chinese theatre reproduction, with real theatre memorabilia inside. Another favorite, Star Wars, and of course we couldn't pass up the Muppet 3D movie starring my idol Miss Piggy.

But for BB what really makes Disney Studios are the "people in the neighborhood".
Sweetie had to remind me of the other parks, porque I was ready to invite these ladies to my home for Cuban cafecito and croquetas.  They SO FONII!!!

Ahora, being a true life, real movie studio lot, there were lots of props and costumes-

must admit, the villains costumes almost made it cool to be bad.

Pretty impressive, but what really never ceases to amaze BB is the attention to detail. Nobody does detail like Disney. Where you least expected it, where you wouldn't give it a second thought nor a second glance; here you started anticipating and took three and four glances- and at least that many fotos.  Of everything.

But it's so worth it.

Now at this point BB was beginning to feel the heat and took out her secret weapon- a personal fan! And not her usual hand held ones, it had passed beyond that. Time for more modern weapons of heat destruction.

Cool on the Go-
Bday present from My Capitan Maria de los Angeles

Unfortunately the flames of femaledom at fifty and Florida's farenheit continued to rise.  Arriving at Epcot an hour later, Babushka had to use all her tricks to cool down.

Not a pretty sight.

Fonii tal vez, but definitely not a pretty sight.

Y con eso My Beautifuls, at this point I'm taking a breakesito- something I should have done at the park,
pero- you know, ya tu sabes.

There's still lots of baby left in this boomer, but I definitely did go boom.

; )

P.S.  In the next post I will finish my bday with Epcot and the Magic Kingdom.  Ok si.  Locura for one day, pero you know BB.  Hay que aprovechar el momento- you've got to seize the moment.  Besides, who am I to pass up free?

P.P.S. Just noticed a pattern with my picture taking.  During the American Latino Heritage Fund Roadtrip I apparently liked flags and buildings through the trees... no se, but I like it.  How about y'all? The rest of the fotos of this trip will be posted on Feibu next week along with part 2.

P.P.P.S. Thanks again to  Hispanicize 2012  and   Disney Parks  for the tickets.  The opinions, pics and aching feet are all mine.
