Today is the last dia of BB's Cumples month, pero not the last day of parties.  If you recall in Babushka's 58 is great post, there were going to be 4 fiestas, pero cosas de la vida, we had so much fun con the 31gifts that we did extra dias and ran over. Sooooo, the MaryKay will be on November 1 and the Lilla Rose sometime in October. Ahora is a Twofer, joining the celebracion will be Grands #5, Dr.J.  Turning six and lover of libros, we know this will be a fun one! 

Porque not everyone likes the same subjects, need to learn the same thing, or are different ages, a Usborne Fiesta is specialized and definitivamente not pushy. Pero eso si, if ya wanna win books or prizes ya gotta participate and join in!

Babushka's Summer Reading 2019

Reading has always been a favorite past time for BB. Si, she has her kindle/online books, pero there's something about an actual libro that transfixes Babushka. The smell of a new book, the physical turning of paginas, the placement of bookmarks, all magical. Honestamente, one of the few things BB looks forward to of summer is reading. This year is one of learning/betterment/acceptance on all levels and reflect that in the choices. Some libros were purchased, algunos given to read, ALL son vibes/subjects Babushka follows or was called to. Porque Beautifuls, spending time focusing on something you really don't care for?  JU SO FONII!!!

The Nehemiah Code by O.S. Hawkins

For those of you who follow Babushka, you know that the giving of Gratitude is a major punto.  Not religous persay, pero definitely considering herself spiritual, BB was looking for a calm, spiritual empowerment to start her early morning Lyft rides and came across the radio program Turning Point with Dr. Jeremiah  On this particular morn, the libro The Nehemiah Code and its message was being discussed. 

When we are in the process of rebuilding (no matter what it is we are seeking to rebuild), there are not just things that need to be done, but things that need to be undone. There are habits that need to be broken and hearts that need to be healed. Anyone who has ever sought to rebuild a marriage, a business, a dream, or a church knows this to be true. It often is easier to walk away and start over than it is to invest the effort and energy needed for rebuilding. But if we are ever going to be successful in rebuilding, it is essential that we get started right.

If the prior libro will help rebuild, then this one is the next step, porque what good is rebuilding if you can't rebuild for the greater good? Para algo you believe in?  This is the premise de este libro and  Karen B. Moore definitivamente is an expert in this.

Earlier this year BB had the pleasure of hearing Karen speak.  Babushka had worked on campaigns managed by Karen's agency, but this was the first time seeing her in person. Dynamic, passionate, funny and straight to the point, if the book is just 1/4 as potent as her presentations, this is gonna be BUENISIMO!!

TALES FROM MY SEA BAG Memories of the U.S.S. Trenton by Luis Sung

It has been said that to do well in the future one must know their past. In the next libro of the Summer Reading List, BB is proud to say that the author of  TALES FROM MY SEA BAG Memories of the U.S.S. Trenton (LPD 14) was a high school friend of Babushka. We were in chorus together, and Babushka remembers Luis Sung as a fun loving, yet serious kinda guy.  No surprise that he would have joined one of the armed forces. Noble y sincero then, and apparently igual today. 

Parece he still has that kinda warped, fun sentido de humor.

Counting Books You Can Count On. #Owls & #Oscar Oh My!

Babushka has been scarce around these partes; home life has been super requete busy lately, what with medical meanderings, birthdays and end of school. Pero like todo, there is a positivo.  BB is spending more time with familia, especialmente The Grands.  If you're like Babushka and have little ones about then you'll love reading to them, especialmente if you can do twofers with the libros.  With these books you read while teaching them how to contar. Learning during together time. ESO!!

The first book we're going to highlight se llama 10,9,8…Owls Up Late! 

(Silver Dolphin; ISBN: 9781684121847; $9.99; 26 pgs; Ages 3-5) ten little owls are playing in a tree, hopping and hooting happily. But Mama Owl calls from down in the nest, “It’s bedtime now; it’s time to rest.” Peek through the pages and spot the mischievous owls in this fun counting book, perfect for bedtime! Featuring fun rhyming text, funny illustrations and peek-through die-cut pages.

Este is SURE to become a classic.  The escrito, BB almost calls it lyrics, because one naturally goes into a singsong while reading.  The story, sweet and easy to sympathize is true to life's moments and a madres amor. Illustrations are well done, being detailed and colorful, but not so much so that it jars sleep away.  A definitivo para mimir in Baushka's house. You'll enjoy this bedtime boardbook with your little ones, for sure to be a favorito.

Next is already a classic-bueno, the characters are.  Sesame Street: 5 Little Rubber Duckies

Of course BB ordered the one in Spanish. Ahora eso si, Dr. J read it in Spanish? JU SO FONII!!! Pero seguimos tratando; you can never give up on teaching them another language. At least they'll hear the way it's supposed to sound when they decide they want to speak it.

So here's to a summer of family time learning and reading.  BB's looking forward to it.

What Babushka truly liked about the series are the things it's teaching-without preaching.  There are children of different colors, sexes, ethnicities, all playing together, and it shows that warmup and focus are part of the game too. Now how wonderful a world seria if we all applied this to how we live verdad? The series also shows how math can be translated to baseball for another angle parents can use in teaching their children.
