HolaHolaHola My Beautifuls!

Mother's Day at the  +Nickelodeon Suites Resort aka @NickHotel. As I alluded to in the title, May for my son is Mayhem.  My son MAC has the following going on in May: On the 9th of May is his wife's birthday, The birthday of his youngest son, Rinquincaya, is on the 12th, and their anniversary is the 14th.  Needless to say he hasn't been able to travel to see me on Mother's Day (this year on the 10th) because finances don't permit.  The last time I saw him for Mother's Day was two years ago and that was too long ago for BB.  Babushka arranged the weekend of May 9 - 11 for a fullout family togetherness fest with him, DIL, the 3 grandsons and La Tata too!  Oh yeah this was gonna be an intergenerational lifetime memory- now whether we were gonna behave was yet to be seen.

The boys had no idea we were going to meet up on the weekend, and they definitely didn't know we were going to be spending it together at NickHotel. To say they were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. 

The management had arranged gifts for each of my grandsons, giving them their favorite TMNT!  To say Babushka was more than pleasantly surprised is another understatement. It's those kind of details that makes one want to visit.  

Those and the accomodations too.

Not fancy, but definitely functional y BUENISIMO!!

No way the DIL was gonna miss Family Karaoke!

and on the way back, they had to say hello to the 1st Bilingual Babe-

Last activity of the night- dress rehearsal for their TMNT Meet n' Greet.

Babushka Believes it's pretty unanimous.

The stay at NickHotel was all we had hoped it would be- y mas!!

Hoping y'all had just as Maravilloso a Mother's Day as we had.

Flowing with Ford- part 3- The Final Drive

The final day of the Ford Fusion Event and almost literally BB's final drive.

The day started off well enough, more than well enough.  Babushka woke up energized from so much pampering- and ready for more. 

 It was such a glorious morning I decided to go to the beach before breakfast.

Bello verdad?

After the excelente breakfast we were paired up with our driving partners, who in my case was also Excelente.  I don't know how I got so lucky, but my partner was none other than the remarkable and muy caballeroso Mr. Ricardo Rodriguez-Long.  Read the link, you'll see I'm not being Cuban (exagerada) he truly is remarkable.  Being a resident of LA I was more comfortable with him driving on the mountains and as it turns out, with him being my tour guide.  Como sabe el Sr.! He was a wealth of information and stories; between him and the scenery I almost forgot about my plane ride.  Bueno, I did miss the first one, but that's another story all together. Continuing.

Following the Ford flags, we arrived at our switch off point.

Starbucks- they know the way to a gal's heart.

Now see that little girl reading?  It's a statue- unreal right?  Also unreal is the car I was expected to drive was a stick shift.  Oh Ford, JU SO FONII!!! True, my first car was a stick shift, but that was countless moons ago, and on unfamiliar roads, y on mountains??  

At Ricardo's insistence we tried to have Babushka drive.

First off, poor Ricardo had to back out of the parking space for BB because I couldn't get it to go that way. 

He should have stopped there, but caballero and brave soul that he is he wanted me to try out the car.  

Ahuh.  Okaaayyy.

Babushka went out of the parking lot, around the corner and right back into the parking lot.  

We were both so very glad when he took the reins again.

It was now nearing the end of my Ford Fusion event adventure, but Ricardo insisted I visit one more place. Who was I to turn down the invite of my new friend?

Y que rico estaba!  Both the food and the company were wonderful.  In all honesty I could have continued seeing the sights and listening to Ricardo for the rest of the day, but I had a plane to catch and a Leadership Summit to attend.  Babushka had more flowing to do, but the time I spent here,  my days with Ford-

My Son, Madre's Day & The Miami Tunnel

5:30 a.m. my son pulls into the driveway, hands me a hard hat and says,

"Happy Mother's Day Ma." 

Ok, si, we never were the typical familia.

BB raised her trio to believe in themselves and in what they were doing, to love what they were doing- or at the very least, to find something to love in what they were doing.  In all instances do things with heart, from the heart, and always- with gusto & passion! 

Another lesson I tried to stress was the importance of homemade gifts.  Que? Does that mean BB would turn down cash or a Starbucks GC?  JU SO FONII!!!  What better complement to a homemade card than having one of those tucked inside?  Seriously though, and once again, presents with heart, from the heart.

And so my son, knowing that BB loves twofers (that's two things for the price of one) was going to give me a peek at what he was doing, a tour of his latest job, the Port of Miami Tunnel, and the greatest homemade gift a child can give to their mother- time together.  

Naturally Babushka was thrilled when Marine MAC, that's one of the nicknames I have for my son, called to inform me that although he had to work on Madre's Day, he wanted to spend some time together and would pick me up. He wanted to give me a behind the scenes look of the news making tunnel. Oh Joy!  At 5:30 a.m.  Oh. Joy.

At the port the tour begins. With camera and fan in hand, hard hat in place and visitor tag on lapel, BB tries to keep up.  Being my son, and a military man, my son knows only two ways to speak.  Either he's detailed and extensive, or short and to the point.  Extremes Are Excellent. Thankfully he started off detailed, but once Mr. Sun started to heat the air and he saw BB's fan a fury MAC knew it was time to switch to monosyllables, just naming the parts of the equipment.  The following pictures were not the only pictures taken during the tour, but being 5:30 a.m.,a mom, and non mechanically inclined, these are the photos most important to Babushka.

I couldn't have asked for a better Madre's Day.

P.S. When BB started the blog MM didn't want  his pic showing, for this post he said yes.  Another gift from my boy.  Handsome devil isn't he?

P.P.S.  On the way to the port my son explained that due to traffic and the heat being heavier later in the day he decided the beginning of his shift would be the best time for the tour.  Oh he knows me too well, como si lo hubiera parido.  ; )   

P.P.P.S. Later in the evening, MM's sons, my grandsons Rinquincaya and PicaPica, and my DIL came by with dinner for me and La Tata.  Oh si, one of my best Mother's Day ever.

Harrroooo Duh Duh Duh- Goodbye

As soon as she saw him at the pound she was in love.  A rusty colored,  all feet, big laughing mouth with dos enormous eyeliner lined eyes that seemed to laugh too, this mutt was what my little one chose.  To me he looked goofy, cute, but goofy.  I wanted her to pick the older Collie in the next room but she wouldn't budge; she had seen him and knew they belonged together.

After the animal shelter had given its o.k., we went back a few days later to pick up "Rocky".  How she came up with such a tough name for such an obviously goofy ball of fur, feet and muzzle was beyond me, but that was his name.  As my little one held him in her hand cooing his name, his tiny tail seemed to be thumping yes, yes each time she would say Rocky, so I guess he liked it too.

But a rosa by any other name is still a rosa.  The dog was a goofball.  Oh si, give him the big he-man name, but he was still goofy.  The times he would be running on our ceramic tiled floor, try to stop but ended up sliding across the house...  I swear sometimes he'd do it on purpose.  BB hears you saying it- JU SO FONII!!! but I think he did.  He was just too cute being goofy, and when we'd laugh at him he would always open that big mouth of his and let his tongue hang out- as if joining us in the merriment.

When we moved up to the South, Rocky fell in love with the 5 acres of land he had now permission to run.  And boy did he run them- and everyone else's acres too!  In Miami he would shoot out the door if given the chance, so up here he happily spent the years investigating all happenings in the great outdoors.  He loved his escapades, but would always spring out of nowhere when he saw our car coming down the road.  By this time he was almost 5 years old; his ears would flop with each pace and his grin with the flopping tongue would greet us.  My nickname for him- Duh Duh Duh 'cause now he was a big goofball.

Now don't confuse being a goofball with being dumb- they are definitely two different things.  He would have done his animated kins Astro and Scooby proud on so many occassions!  The times we would catch him jumping off furniture when we were entering a room- or how about the times I'd find an empty Starbuck's  cup upon my return to a room?  Yes a goof, but definitely no dummy.


Oh the many tales and adventures we have shared these past 11 years dear Rocky Rook.  How we both  enjoyed seeing our Little One grow, how we enjoyed living out in the country, how we both grayed gracefully, and how we agreed that nothing beats that extra squirt of caramel  in a Frappuccino.
