Hoy hablamos ofDisney's Moana and one of the main points en la pelicula;the significance grandparents can make in children's lives. Grandparenthood, ser Abuelo- where discipline is slight and sweets aplenty. Sweets, besides the sugary kind, are when the abuelos son the confidants, the guiding light from the past who believe in our futures. Moana was blessed with Grandmother Tala, and hopefully The Grands will think the same of Babushka. La Princesa, being autistic and the only hembra is especially close to BB y con el favor de Dios will continue to connect with the feelings of total love held for her. Quee?? Ok, si, JU SO FONII!!! Tambien connect with some of the locura and love of life shared too.

Did you know that originally this blog was supposed to be a radio program? Babushka's Baile was to be on blogtalk radio... but then BB realized she needed someone to talk to, guests, listeners. Not that Babushka couldn't talk all by herself for at least 30 minutes, Cubana al fin, but it's more fun with others. So the show was put on the back burner for awhile, 'till there was more of an audience. That back burner turned into a slowcooker; it took almost 5 years to come full circle. And once again, it was thanks to Hispanicize that it came to be.
The true start of Babushka's aventuras were thanks to that fateful time BB approached Maria de los Angeles during a Travel Blogger panel in the 2012 Hispanicize. Because it was asked, the chance taken, the offer to be part of the American Latino Heritage Fund Roadtrip was made. And Babushka's never looked back.
In 2015, another panel was given, tambien en HIspanicize, and this one was on podcasting. The panel was fascinating, and here was where, Felix Montelara, The Potential Millionaire, became special in Babushka's vida. Aqui lo bautize, The Preacher of Podcasting, porque even as an audience member, Felix was especially informative and entertaining. The memory of BB's original vision returned, pero honestly, it was a bit intimidating this new, technologically heavy world, so although we spoke briefly on the vision, the show estaria cocinanco otro año.
Come 2016, another panel on podcasting at Hispanicize, no denying las ganas, y cuando Felix approached BB, remembering her from the prior year and asking if she had started her broadcast yet, it was taken as a sign. The audience and following had been made, there were guests who could be invited, it was time to do the show.
"BB's Blab 'Bout 'Buelos",the program where Grandparents Gloat and Grandchildren Remember. A place where we never tire of hearing how precious and precocious son los nietos, and also how precious and dear were your abuelos. Our first show was on Sunday, and since the S Sisters continue to bless BB, guess who was the first guest? None other than Mr. Felix Montelara himself!!
Just as it had happened w/My Capitan Maria, paso con Felix. By Babushka taking the initiative of approaching them, she ended up working with them. BB not follow a dream? JU SO FONII!!! Remember this Beautifuls, take that chance, tu nunca sabes...

Babushka, being Babushka, definitely wants to share the maravillas that are in this production, but not in a typical post format. For this, BB must write a letter to the creators, sponsors of Disney On Ice FROZEN.

On March 24, my granddaughter, La Princesa, y BB went to see FROZEN at the BB&T Center in South Florida. This was an early cumpleaños present for her; she’s turning 7 on Sunday. From the moment she heard she was going to see her favorite princesses she was excited and Babushka knew the idea was perfecto.
BB sabia that the pre-show activities were going to be wonderful. Having attended a prior FELD Entertainment media event, they know just what children like. Comida, activities,and giant grab bags con excelente goodies inside were well received. Es mas, my usually hyper, talkative Princesa was grinning ear to ear and silent from felicidad when she met Elsa & Anna!
Now, what I didn’t know was how she would react during the show. La Princesa has autism, and can find some performances overwhelming, or gets so excited during events that she experiences sensory overload and either covers her ears and starts rocking, or totally tunes out completely. As you can see, she did neither during this show.

Starting out with the childhood friends of Mickey & Minnie was a wonderful intro. The lighting, the volume, all were just right and the colors were lively but not glaring, again, perfecto. And then, the moment she had been waiting for- the FROZEN princesses.
She was mesmerized and enchanted.
And here Babushka was apprehensive about too many bright colors...
you know what she said after Olaf's Solo Summer number?
"That was AMAZING!"
Truly, it was, and all the special effects were surprisingly, "Real". Kudos to that team who actually had us believing the rocks/trolls were rolling on the ice and that the Ice Monster was growing with each swoosh of Elsa's arms. This part transfixed La Princesa, especially since she had joined the "Let It Go" league of audience singers totally believing in the powers of Elsa.
Of course, the souvenirs we were able to get with the tweeting contest she won helped immensely and will be used and cherished for years to come.
At 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, Sweetie drove into Miami. At 5 a.m. the following morning Babushka was driving to Orlando with him and my 7 year old grandson. Here started my week with El Dr.- an adventure I look back at with smiles, laughs, and gratitude for family, cafe, y multi-vitamins.
Of course from 9 - 11:30 pm we had to shop for supplies. Queee??? BB go on a trip without her Popa purse full of snacks? JU SO FONII!!! Pobre Sweetie had never gone on a trip shopping spree with Babushka PLUS he had never had children, so add the supplies needed for that to our spree. Talk about baptism by fire! Don't know if his eyes were bulging because of the long hours he had driven or because of the final shopping tally.
The next morning El Dr. was so excited about his trip to Tala HA si, that a 5 a.m. wake up call was greeted with smiles and no objections. His dad said we should have videotaped that as proof during the school year that he WAS capable of waking up early. Now BB, though just as happy as my grandson to be going back home to Tala HA si, needed some extra energy, and since breakfast is the most important meal of the day...
Ok si, maybe not what the nutritionists would prefer we have, but between the sugar & the fresh cafe,
I knew the drive was going to be sweeter on every level.
Now El Dr. tried to follow suggestions to sleep
but instead kept us entertained and awake with questions and stories.
Not sure if it was excitement, or the knowledge that he had a captive audience, but the child didn't stop for 2 hours. De veras. We clocked it.
And we loved it.
El Dr. brought a new dimension and meaning into our lives and routine.
Imagination, curiosity, and innocent, loving, never ending energy.
Questions that took us by surprise by their depth and honesty.
Stories that had us smiling, sniffling and stupified.
Grandparenting- it ain't for the slight of spirit.

Matter of fact, when I asked the newly initiated Sweetie how he liked being called "Grandpa" he said-
"I liked it. I think I'm gonna be a good one."

P.S. Tala HA si is how El Dr. pronounces the city of Tallahassee, the capital city of Florida. Not quite where BB and Grandpa Sweetie live, but close enough.

Santa is a wannabe Grandpa, for sure for sure. And not only is he a wannabe grandpa (at least I've never heard stories of his kids), but I think he was Cuban in a past life. Oh si, because BB recognizes a fellow extremist when she sees them.
By outer everyday appearances we grandparents keep busy in a simpler, more even paced lifestyle. Note as an example Babushka and Sweetie's Christmas tree. A true reflection of us as a couple- his obsession w/anything Peanuts related and BB's obsession w/anything chocolate related.
HOWEVER, inwardly we are mischievous elves reliving Christmas's past and waiting to share the joys of those memories. In abuelo language that's called Puberty::shudder::Payback Presents y Santi Clo is the Numero Uno hombre honoring this tradition. Queee?? JU SO FONII!!! Por supuesto, and but of course BB has proof. How else can you explain this?

Santa's the poster child of Grandparents. Not only does he give these kinds of marvelous presents, but he then disappears into the night until the following year, leaving the parents the sounds and pieces of the season. And he gets milk and cookies for doing this!!
As Babushka sits here, far away Up North in The South , seeing the pictures via Feibu and sipping her coquito spiked café, I am missing my grandchildren and can't wait to see them. Once again the Man in Red sent the perfect gift to BB. In total solidarity and knowing, he sent me earplugs and combat boots.
